Fire Truck was ordered by the Navy under a contract to be used during World War II. I believe some trucks under this contract (10 trucks) went to Pearl harbor but not this one. Fire truck has been totally restored since purchased in 1991 by seven volunteer firemen. Truck primarily used for parades and car shows. Has been stored inside since purchased. Has not been used for several years but last time used pump still operated.
It may be able to be proven that 10 trucks were ordered for the navy and this was the last one produced. It is believed this was the last truck to be hand built by Sanford before going into an assembly line production. Have been trying for over 15 years to see if any of the other 9 trucks under this contract are still in existence but have had no luck. May have other Misc Original papers between the US Navy & Sanford Fire Apparatus Company for this truck and others from the original contract of 10 trucks.
May be able to produce original papers from the:
Contact with Sanford Fire & US Navy
Original Pump Tests of the above fire truck prior to delivery
Bid Specification Sheet furnished by the US Navy
Other Misc Original papers between the US Navy & Sanford Fire Apparatus Company
